Bye by Namuth

Oil on mdf, diptych 40 x 64 cm x 2, 15,7 x 25,2 in x 2

Bye by Namuth is a parody of Hans Namuth's film about Jackson Pollock. Namuth's photographs of the artist functioned as propaganda when used by mass media. That was all in line with Walter Benjamin's ideas of art having a political purpose brought forth in his book Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction.
